Presenting Astrid Pierce’s New Single “Don’t Look Back”

Astrid Pierce makes an anticipated return to the music scene with her new song “Don’t Look Back.” The alternative indie artist is making her first independent release after five years. 

The alternative indie pop track “Don’t Look Back” dives into reflection and offers an uplifting message about letting go of past regrets. The melody doesn’t stray from her other songs—Astrid lives in the present, runs through the darkness, laughs, and watches as things grow.

The tone of her voice, fierce and forceful, harmonising with the low and undemanding, creates an emotional tug as she sings, “I’m counting down the seconds, til I can start over again, so close I can taste it, it’s bittersweet but I can take it.”

“When I started writing this project, something was different,” Astrid wrote. “I decided I didn’t want to quit music fully, just the previous situation I was in.”

About a week ago, Astrid announced she was no longer performing music under ‘Jackie Hayes’ on her Instagram. Astrid explained that there were a lot of reasons behind the name change, however, she would save the long explanation for her memoir. 

“I was unhappy, and no longer felt connected to the music,” she wrote. “I feel like so much of what I created was negative, which makes sense because of the place I was in, but it is exhausting to wallow in such things 24/7.” 

Astrid has heard stories from listeners about her old music, and their own experiences. The next release of songs is Astrid’s attempt at making her own meaning of things, she explained in the post.

“It helped me put things into a new light as I was processing the end of this chapter of my career,” she said. “I might not have good memories associated with my old music, but it makes me happy knowing it has lived a different life with others, and even helped people.” 

While Astrid’s connection to her old music is negative, she mentions how she wants to move forward with using the inspiration she’s gathered over the years and putting it into a new home. 

“I might be moving on from ‘Jackie Hayes,’ but I am not leaving. My new name is ‘Astrid Pierce…”
