Dayglow Returns With A Magical 80’s Inspired Hit

21-year-old Sloan Struble, known as Dayglow, follows up his success from his viral hit, “Can I Call You Tonight?” off his debut album, Fuzzybrain with a new single entitled “Close to You”.
“Close to You” has managed to become a hit with 1.5 million streams on Spotify in the first week of its release. Struble says that the song “draws heavily on some unlikely influences such as Whitney Houston, Patti Labelle, and Michael McDonald”. The 80’s influences are prevalent in the track and mix perfectly with his signature sound that listeners know and love.
What makes this song stand out for us is the relatability of its sentiment. We all know the feeling of seeing that one person at a party but never saying anything to them. The song is an inner dialogue of someone thinking about what they wish they would’ve said. Sloan explains, “It’s about the excitement and perfect fantasy you play in your head prior to seeing that person, the mediocre and nervous reality of the actual moment you see them, and the let down that always comes afterwards it not being what had always and only been living in your head”.
The music video that accompanied this release is full of bright colors and emphasizes the imagery of Sloan and his reflection that mirrors the concept of the track. In typical Dayglow fashion, Struble delivers a lighthearted visual complete with a vibrant set and dancing.
We’re not surprised by the success “Close to You” has received so far and it goes to show Struble’s rising stardom isn’t stopping anytime soon. We can’t wait to hear the rest of Dayglow’s upcoming releases.
