Already having made a name for themselves in the indie-rock and punk music scenes, SoCal band, The Garden release their 5th LP, Horseshit On Route 66. The duo of twin brothers Fletcher and Wyatt Shears, go back to their DIY past, independently releasing their new album. The project is an eerie yet high-powered collection of genre-bending songs.

The Garden takes inspiration from UK punk and California hardcore while experimenting with different sounds to create something completely unique.

Partially inspired by scary stories the brothers heard as kids, Horseshit On Route 66 has an air of mystery, especially showcased on the intro track “Haunted House on Zillow'' and closing track “At the Campfire.” The haunting vocals and ominous laughs in the songs serve as bookends encapsulating the mood of the album.

The song “OC93” starts with blaring guitars and the chaotic attitude The Garden is known for. The band begins the album with dynamic energy and eases into a catchy hook.

The previous single “Freight Yard” relies on repetition to create an addictive track with a complex groove. While “Orange County Punk Rock Legend” shows another side of The Garden’s sound with lively, cheerful guitars juxtaposed with harsh vocals.

Title track “Horseshit on Route 66” and “Squished Face Slick Pig Livin’ in a Smokey City” both express imaginative lyricism The Garden has gained recognition for—with the latter song bringing us back into the strange menacing world we began in.

Finally feeling like they are making the music they set out to create at the start of their project, The Garden has cemented their place as a musical force with no boundaries with Horseshit On Route 66.
