Inhaler Smashes it With “If You’re Gonna Break My Heart”

“If You’re Gonna Break My Heart” is the newest track from Dublin-based band, Inhaler. The nostalgic tune is the third single from their new album Cuts and Bruises arriving February 17th.
Compared to their previous work, the song has a clear live sound that features a simple, but unforgettable electric guitar riff. The eclectic and soothing sound of “If You’re Gonna Break My Heart” was inspired by classic American rock musicians, such as Bob Dylan, The Band, and Bruce Springsteen.
The band said of the track, “Listening to those artists while traveling on big open highways resonated with us and helped shape this song into making us sound more like a live band than we had before.”
The euphoric sound of the track is contrasted by its heart-wrenching tonality. The release is a statement of love for someone that may not feel the same way anymore. The sadness and anger associated with the lack of reciprocation are accentuated well—the bridge speeds up the tempo for a few moments and brings all the instruments together for a final declaration of devotion.
Cuts and Bruises is the Irish rock band’s follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut album It Won’t Always Be Like, which premiered at number one on the UK and Irish official charts. Starting in February, Inhaler is taking the new album on the road for a sold-out UK tour as well as a month-long US headline tour. This summer, they will be supporting Harry Styles and Sam Fender.
