Boyu Takes Us On a “Miata Trip”

Sam Plascencia

The LA songwriter known as Boyu debuts his second single of the year, “Miata Trip.” The rich level of sounds found in the track is purposeful and easy. As a newer artist, this release highlights the dynamic pop, rap genre that Boyu is practicing within his artistry.

As a way to echo the journey of a psychedelic trip the song accentuates the “liberation of the soul, uplifting & carefree, paired with bright happy chords/melody.” explains Boyu. “In contrast, the chorus/outro rap symbolizes the dark downward spiral when stuck in a self-deprecating headspace, with minor chords, angsty flow/production, and slowed BPM.”

The duality of the tempo changes and lyricism in “Miata Trip” excites us for what’s to come from Boyu. The euphoric sensations the artist hits in the track are unlike what we’ve experienced.

In support of the new single, catch Boyu performing at Spring Fest on March 19th with Tessa Rae, Banana Club, and Halo Kitsch. We’re thrilled to feature Boyu’s early beginnings as a new artist and can expect new music this Spring.
