“My Very Best” has a terrific bass line that sets a soothing and captivating melody for the track. A possible turning point for the Irish indie rock band’s sound, the release is the most distinctive sound compared to the previous three singles. They are staying true to their authentic indie-rock sound while adding a splash of pop that provides a simple but anthemic chorus.

The track describes feelings in relationships where nothing is ever enough. Lead singer, Craig Fitzgerald shares, “we wanted to write something that could encapsulate the heavy heartedness and cruelty of feeling like you can’t emotionally provide a relationship with what it needs to survive.”

The music video was shot in a small town in Ireland called Lisdoonvarna—known as the largest match-making festival in the world. The piece creates a loving and moving atmosphere that complements the sonic element of the track well, crafted with creative partners Ronan & Hope.

Sitting Pretty, The Academic’s second album will be released on February 10th. This album follows their first independently released album Tales From The Backseat, which debuted at number one in Ireland, as well as their Community Spirit EP. The band will also be heading to North America for their Sitting Pretty Tour in April 2023.
