joan Lets It All Out on “nervous”

Kimmy Reinhardt

American duo, joan, made up of Alan Benjamin Thomas and Steven Rutherford returns with a new single, “nervous” off their upcoming album Superglue, set to release April 19th.

“nervousshows the internal battle of having feelings for someone while combatting the anxiety and awkward emotions that comes with being around them. The sensations of stress and deep-rooted feeling of wanting to impress a person are clear and relatable. “Starting to sweat, now I'm checking my breath, I don't know if you notice,” sings joan. The quick pace and energetic pop tune are bound to pull listeners.

Alongside the release of the single came the music video directed by Brandon Waddell. The piece showcases a variety of color and lighting schemes, with a focus on the discomfort of these feelings occurring by using varying lights and backgrounds. Following the theme of seemingly unrequited love, the 80s-inspired track that the band is known for is perfectly accompanied by the video release.

The band’s songs are full of messages highlighting everyday life experiences—awkward hometown friendships, dwindling relationships, and the ones you love having feelings for someone else. joan offers day-to-day moments in relevant and emotional packages that fans all over love.

joan will kick off their North America tour following the release of Superglue starting in May through mid-June.
