Let Love Fade Away with “Nevermind” by Babygirl
Brooke Honnette
The Toronto-based indie-pop rock band, Babygirl, is made up of Kristen Frances and Cameron Breithaupt. They have swept us away with their heavenly new single, “Nevermind”. The duo’s previous singles, “You Were In My Dream Last Night” and “Easy” found success on major indie-pop playlists on Spotify and Apple Music. “Nevermind” comes as their latest track off their upcoming sophomore EP, Losers Weepers, which will be out on April 16th.
“Nevermind” captures what it’s like to give up on a love bound to fade. The song displays a relationship that feels one-sided with lyrics like, “thought we were both in the deep end, but you’re only in town for the weekend”. Along with the lyricism, the soft vocals paired with an upbeat, bold guitar captivate us and make this song a must-listen.
A live performance video version of “Nevermind” accompanies the single which features the duo on an empty stage displaying their talent in real-time. This gives more life and dimension to the release which makes the song even more worthy of love.
“Nevermind” showcases Babygirl’s signature sound which is best described as “pop songs with sad guitars”. The single excites us for what is in store with the release of their EP, Losers Weepers next month.
