Singer-songwriter Gabrielle Macafee makes a shimmering artistic debut with her song “Apocalypse Rodeo.”

The inspiration behind “Apocalypse Rodeo” comes from Macafee’s childhood growing up in the evangelical church. What started as a breakup song transformed into a “a sardonic commentary on the paranoia and ruffled egos” Gabrielle experienced while in the church.

The opening line, ”I heard something in your voice I never knew I hated”, is a moment of awakening that comes with the ending of a relationship that wasn't right. It’s fitting that the song can also be interpreted as a breakup track since it began as one. On an emotional level “Apocalypse Rodeo” is about reflection and the realization that something that once felt right now feels totally wrong.

The video is a hazy, disco dream that fits the vibe of the song perfectly. Complete with roller skating and a disco ball the set is the ideal backdrop for Macafee’s carefree attitude. 

With a catchy hook and eye-roll inducing lyrics, you’ll quickly be adding “Apocalypse Rodeo” to your breakup playlists.
