Alfie Templeman Faces Uncertainty on New Single “Broken”
Wendy Rosales & Jenny Sorto
Alfie Templeman’s new single “Broken” is accompanied by the announcement of his debut album Mellow Moon. The 19-year-old artist has proven his ability to create an infectious indie-pop track with his past releases and “Broken” is no exception.
In “Broken,” Templeman expresses his loss of direction in this life. He sings, “Life ain't got a manual, it came without instructions and yeah things don't ever go as planned,” a sentiment that young people can relate to. “Broken” is an anthem for the youth, inspired by struggles Templeman has faced and the anxieties that come with growing up. He shares, “It’s a bit of an anthem for people my age really, all the wobbles of being a teenager and figuring yourself out.”
In the music video for “Broken” directed by Jack Turner, you see a visual representation of Templeman feeling trapped. Filled with the vibrant, nostalgic vibe typical of his visuals, this video leads us further into the singer’s imaginative world.
Mellow Moon is set to show a more vulnerable side to the artist that we’re excited to see. Songs like “Broken” served as a form of therapy for Templeman where he was able to process unresolved thoughts. The highly anticipated album, Mellow Moon, from Alfie Templeman comes out May 27, 2022.
