Just Like Heaven 2023: Artists to Watch

Goldenvoice’s Just Like Heaven festival returns on Saturday, May 13, 2023, transforming the Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena into an indie lover’s dream. The lineup is filled with 2000’s hitmakers like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, MGMT, Empire of the Sun, and more. This year’s festival is bound to transport you to the celestial world of indie music.

Cults

Stardust Stage 12:30-1:05

Forming in 2010 the indie-pop duo is made up of Madeline Folin and Brian Oblivion. Creating dreamy tracks like the certified gold song “Always Forever.” The latest album from the band, Host is a lush blend of indie-rock and bedroom pop and showcases a new side to the band.

STRFKR

Orion Stage 1:25-2:10

STRFKR’s breakout record, Starfucker, brought the band’s music to our televisions and radios but they continue to prove their versatility in the indie space. Releasing seven albums and various EPs since 2008, STRFKR has made its mark. The group has gained notoriety through their captivating live performances.

Metronomy 

Orion Stage 2:15-3:05

The British five-piece band began as a bedroom project from the frontman of the band, Joseph Mount. Since their start the electronic pop group has released seven albums and they show no sign of stopping. Their 2022 release of, Small World (Special Edition), is a re-imagination of their seventh album with collaborations from other genre-bending artists.

Peaches

Stardust Stage 4:50-5:35

An artist, queer icon, and rule breaker — Peaches has been defying expectations since her first album, The Teaches of Peaches. With a career spanning two decades, Peaches is a seasoned performer guaranteed to deliver an outstanding performance.

Hot Chip 

Stardust Stage 6:05-6:55

The electronic pop band from the UK continues to make its mark by blending indie and dance in dynamic ways. Hot Chip’s most recent release, Freakout/Release, captures the feeling of cathartic release and self-expression. Gaining a strong following over the years, Hot Chip is definitely a band to see.
