Rachel Chinouriri Feels the Pain of a Crush on “Ribs”
Kimmy Reinhardt
Alternative indie-pop artist Rachel Chinouriri released the single “Ribs,” following her success earlier this year with “Maybe I’m Lonely.” The artist's latest single speaks to the aching feeling of having feelings for someone and not being with them. With a soothing melody and backing vocals, the song pulls the listener into the song alongside the creative lyricism and instrumental usage.
With the vivid imagery of cracked ribs and the throbbing one feels in their chest as one falls deeper into the emotions of liking someone—the listener can find themselves relating with the pain of loving someone you aren’t with. Based on Chinouriri’s chest infection and a crush of her own, “Ribs” combines the physical and emotional feelings brought on by the scenarios.
Chinouriri’s newest release is her second of the year and showcases her sensational talent. Alongside an array of accomplishments for the artist in 2023, including opening for Lewis Capaldi and being shortlisted for BBC’s Sound of 2023, it is clear that Chinouriri is on her way to massive success.
The artist will set off on headline shows across the UK in early May, set to perform four sold-out dates at London’s Hoxton Hall. Chinouriri will also perform at multiple upcoming festivals throughout the year, including Nass Festival and Y Not. Chinouriri has new music to be announced soon, with her fanbase anxiously waiting to see what she does next.
