PinkPantheress’ Stunning Mixtape, “To hell with it”

The 20-year-old British producer and singer PinkPantheress shares her first project consisting of a collection of tracks she’s developed this year, titled To hell with it. The artist immerses us into the perfect Y2K world with mystery and fantasy behind her name. PinkPantheress pulls us in with lo-fi hip-hop beats and a shimmering voice.

Throughout the EP, tracks are quick and to the point. The artist practices the simplicity of irresistible choruses in just under three minutes. The satisfaction of listening to PinkPantheress softly speak through our speakers is exclusive to her style we grew to love. 

After the breakthrough of “Pain” on TikTok, PinkPantheress’ fanbase escalated like no other. The simpleness of “la la las,” in the track is inevitably inviting and snappy. The retro-inspired garage beat samples a karaoke version of “Flowers” by Sweet Female Attitude yet still holds the savviness of this emerging artist.

One of the more sentimental tracks, “Nineteen” explores the reality of being at the awkward age of feeling bored and alone. The track reflects the artists’ real-life experience tied with somber basslines. As a transition year, PinkPantheress expresses how she “wasn’t meant to be this bored at 19.” Once she started pursuing what she loved, the age of nineteen didn’t feel all that lonely.

It is no surprise that PinkPantheress surged to popularity. Each track on To hell with it leaves us reminiscing the past of failed relationships all while holding tight to that dreamy nostalgic feeling.
