Gracie Abrams Wonders What’s Next in “Where do we go now?”

Ahead of her upcoming debut album, acclaimed singer-songwriter, Gracie Abrams introduces us to the world of Good Riddance with, “Where do we go now?”.
Produced and co-written with rock band The National’s Aaron Dessner, “Where do we go now?” frames the end of a fractured relationship and its inevitable consequences: confusion, frustration, and longing. Abrams captures these emotions through her lyrical honesty and self-possession, emphasizing the chorus, in which she repeats, “Where do we go now?” helplessly over a hypnotic beat.
Shot in mostly black and white, the music video for the release is directed by Gia Coppola. Abrams epitomizes the mental anguish as she is captured, in what seems to be, her reciting a conversation with someone who is no longer a part of her life. The flashes of softly saturated frames of Abrams insinuate a balance of her emotional distress and relief about her past relationship, setting the tone for the rest of her album.
“Writing this record allowed me to grow up in ways I needed to. It forced me to reflect and be accountable. It allowed me to walk away from versions of myself that I no longer recognized. It allowed me to let go,” Abrams shares on Instagram.
Abrams’ debut album, Good Riddance, will be released on February 24th via Interscope Records. Shortly after, she will kick off her The Good Riddance Tour at the House of Blues in Chicago on March 6. Abrams will support Taylor Swift on select dates for her Eras Tour.
