Catch Up with STRFKR at Just Like Heaven

Indie favorites STRFKR jumped on the main stage of Just Like Heaven dressed as astronauts, for an otherworldly performance. Joined by a gang of dancing spacemen the group hyped up the crowd as STRFKR performed hits like “Open Your Eyes” and “Rawnwald Gregory Erickson the Second.”

We got to have a quick talk with Josh and Shawn from STRFKR after their set – check out the interview below!

Bad Wreck: So I really liked the spacesuits on stage. What was the idea behind that? 

Shawn: Just to get our friends in. [laughs] But I mean… we're not a band that's, we don't talk. We don't have banter, we're not like a hype band...

Josh: They're hype men.

S: Yeah so the astronauts, they're hype men.

BW: That’s awesome! What other performers are you excited to see later?

J: Pretty much everybody. Like it's a stacked fucking lineup.

S: I'm very excited for MGMT. I mean they're playing that entire record.

J: I know yeah, that's cool. But yeah M83, Caribou, Peaches...

BW: What’s your favorite song to perform live? 

J: Well right now, and like from today, for me it's "Golden Light."

S: Yeah! That might be mine too. 

J: I like it and it's fun to play for me.

BW: What are some artists that you're really excited about right now?

J: For me, it's Domenque Dumont. Her album, People on Sunday got me through the pandemic, and then pretty much almost everything by Bitchin Bajas.

S: I'm just waiting for the new Deerhunter album. Who knows when that's coming…

BW: Speaking of albums, what is the next thing for you guys? Do you have anything upcoming to tell us about? 

J: We're working on an album right now. Hopefully, it'll be out next year and then we'll tour it. We're trying to finish it by July!
